          The course syllabus provides you with the course description and schedule, learning objectives, explanations of assignments and assessments, grading policies, instructor contact information, and much more. In a nutshell, it's a guide to success in the class. Please read the syllabus closely and as soon as possible, at the latest before our 2nd class on Wednesday August 27.

          You should have a deep familiarity with the schedule and process of the course. Since you're just getting started  in the class, if you just have a particular question or two for now and desire brief-but-accurate answers, here's a 1-page English 802 FAQ:

          There are three major papers to do in the class, and what follows is a detailed explanation of how you'll be graded on these papers. These several pages describing the qualities and characteristics of effective academic writing are the rubric of English 0802. These guidelines are followed in all 802 sections at TU, and they will be reviewed in detail at the beginning and again near the end of the semester:

Religious Holidays

          It is your right to observe religious holidays without impacting your opportunity to learn and succeed in this course. Please reach out to me at the start of the semester so that deadlines can be reviewed in advance of your religious observations. You will still be held responsible for course content and any assignments, but you will not lose points for attendance and participation on days important to your faith.
