Instructions

PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY

Your response should be THREE TO FIVE MINUTES in length; please time yourself.

Any kind of camera or video should work, but your phone or computer camera is probably easiest. Video format should be .mov or .mp4 (you can usually convert a video file) but you should be able to upload most video file types. If all else fails, upload your video to youtube or vimeo and send me the link. If you cannot upload your file or link to Canvas for whatever reason, email it to me (within time window) to damien@temple.edu.

You will have 25 MINUTES to upload the video or link to video. This may give you some limited time to prepare and organize your answer, but you should be very careful with your time; it can take five or more minutes just to upload a video. If you miss the upload window due to technical issues, contact me, but please have proof of technical issues. If you are unable to submit through Canvas for whatever reason, email your video or link to me within the window. MISSING THE UPLOAD WINDOW WILL RESULT IN A 40% REDUCTION IN YOUR GRADE.

DO NOT READ YOUR RESPONSE. READING YOUR RESPONSE WILL RESULT IN LOSING 50% DEDUCTION IN YOUR GRADE. You may refer to your notes and read pieces of/quotes from the text, but your response should be recorded "on your feet" and NOT WRITTEN OUT AHEAD OF TIME.

RUBRIC: [15 POINTS TOTAL; 1 POINT FREE!]

10 POINTS: How complete is your answer and how well does it demonstrate your engagement with and your understanding of the reading?

3 POINTS: Use of specific examples, details, moments from the text, or quotes that you are able to find quickly.

3 POINTS: The overall quality of your presentation in terms of your capacity to convey information clearly and effectively, in an organized way, with appropriate speaking speed and volume, and overall quality of the video.

** Do not worry if you “mess up” or need to start over! I am not judging on whether or not you make a mistake or need to take some time during the video to think or consult the book.
