Fieldwork Events Fall 2025

Brazilian Day Festival
Date/Time: Sunday, September 7th, 1 pm - 7 pm (go for at least 1.5 - 2 hours and hear at least one musical performance)

About: We’re excited to welcome Brazilian Day Philadelphia, part of the PECO Multicultural Series, back to the Philly Waterfront on September 7 from 1 pm to 7 pm at Spruce Street Harbor Park. The event is free and open to the public. All ages.
Feria Del Barrio
Location: Near Taller Puertorriqueño on Lehigh Avenue & 5th St, Philadelphia, PA 19133
About: Since 1979, La Feria del Barrio has celebrated Latino culture, family, and the economic and educational aspirations of the people of North Philadelphia with:
- Live Latin music and dancing
- Latino food delicacies
- Art and crafts

Korean Instrumental Music - Gamin Kang
Date/Time: Thursday, Sept. 11th, 7:30 pm
Location: Temple Performing Arts Center 1837 N Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19122 (On Campus)

About: A true pioneer of Korean wind instruments, gamin is one of the most celebrated piri (small double reed instrument), taepyeongso (Korean traditional oboe) and saengwhang (ancient wind-blow instrument) performers in Korea today. A member of Seoul’s Contemporary Gugak Orchestra for 10 years, she trained in jeongak, the classical court music, and also studied the techniques of sinawi, the shaman ritual music. Her expansive musical knowledge enables her to draw upon her classical training while specializing in contemporary music and improvisation.
Mexican Independence Day Festival

Irish Instrumental Music

About: Irish traditional music is a vibrant, orally transmitted musical tradition rooted in community and cultural history, featuring dance tunes like jigs and reels, sean-nós songs, and ballads, all performed on instruments such as the fiddle, flute, tin whistle, and bodhrán. It's known for its lively, energetic, and communal spirit.
Taste of the Philippines
